31.4 How can I load new microcode (firmware) on my M2488x tape drive?

              Fujitsu M2488 Microcode (Firmware) Download Instructions

STEP          ACTION                    DISPLAY
------       -------------             ----------------
1             TEST+UNLOAD               OFFLINE (release keys --> DIAGMODE)
2             START                     SETTING
3             START                     LOADCODE
4 TEST PLEASE INSERT CODE IMAGE TAPE
5 Insert Firmware Tape COPYING IMAGE (approximately 1 minute)
6 (after load completed) CODE LOAD COMPLETE, SWITCH POWER OFF
7 RESET repeat until drive enters SELFTEST
8             POWER OFF
9 POWER ON New firmware now active

NOTES:
       1. Because the tape drive will have to be powered off/on during this
          process, the host computer should not be active -- this process
          will disrupt the SCSI bus.

       2. If there is an outstanding SCSI command or if there is a tape loaded
          in the tape drive, then the OFFLINE mode cannot be entered.
